The Outreach commission is involved in a multitude of projects. In the past we have elected to help with New Life for Girls, Carroll Hospice, Soup Kitchens, among other things.
STEWARDSHIP
Our response as Christian people to our many blessings from God is to give of our whole selves in an answering love. Giving, then, includes offering of time and talent. But our money is where we must begin. Your financial pledge to Saint George is not only a spiritual and tangible response to God’s graceful love in your life, but it literally enables ministry, program, and mission to happen in and through this church.
Ways to Give to Saint George’s Church
Pledge:
Your annual stewardship pledge to Saint George helps sustain the daily operations of our church. It takes approximately $4,000 a week to operate our church.
Donations
You may give a donation of any amount at any time.
Directed Giving:
Is there a ministry or program that is very important to you? You can direct your gift to specifically benefit the programs of the church that have touched your life.
Legacy or Estate Giving:
Make Saint George’s Episcopal church a part of your legacy planning by putting the church in your will. It ensures that the church’s service will continue to live and grow
What does it mean to make a pledge?
The Church asks each year for “estimates of giving” to plan for annual budgeting of expenditures.
How do I pay my pledge?
You can request weekly offering envelopes or setup an automatic debit online through our website to fit your budgeting schedule (Paypal) Gifts of appreciated stock are also accepted.
What does it mean to be a good steward?
In modern terms, a steward is a “manager,” given responsibility to administer faithfully all that God has entrusted to us – making a difference in the world as a follower of Jesus Christ.
I take my commitments seriously. I’m thinking about pledging, but I’m concerned about my employment status. If I have a change in my status, can I adjust my pledge?
Yes, your estimate of giving can be changed at any time for any reason in a confidential way. Just contact the parish administrator, Jo Anne O’brien at stgeorgesepsicopal@comcast.net
I’m a young adult and I don’t have a lot to give right now. Will my pledge of a small amount make a difference?
Yes! If everyone who hasn’t been giving committed to give (regardless of the amount), the church could surpass our current level of giving. Your gift makes a great deal of difference.
I have given faithfully in the past, but I have never made a formal pledge. Why should I?
We are grateful for your stewardship in any form at Saint George. Our Annual Pledge Effort is critically important because it is the revenue base on which the Vestry depends for funding the ongoing budget of the church. The church’s budget is built with the pledges of parishioners.
Who has access to my giving amounts?
The only people with ongoing access to the giving rolls are the Parish Administrator and the Treasurer.
When does my pledge go into effect?
Immediately, if you so desire! However, we generally begin January 1 of every year. You may prepay a pledge or pay weekly, monthly, at yearend, or what best fits your family’s budget.
Will St. George’s Church send me statements?
Yes, if you give, you will receive a quarterly statement of your contributions for your tax records and to confirm the accuracy of our records.
Pastoral Care helps bring the church family closer together with projects like the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Circle of Friends, Casseroles and many others.
Our fellowship commission aims to run fun and engaging events to bring our church and local community together. We have had Chili Contests, Beer and Wine Tastings, picnics and many other events in the past.
Our fundraising is varied and ranges from gift card sales to paper recycling.
